Bare Necessities ---------------- by tejón v1.0 - Req. OBSE v0020+ ----------------------- This mod adds hunger and exhaustion mechanics to Oblivion. Rather than aiming for true realism, the primary purpose of this mod is to make the passage of time feal meaningful during gameplay, giving a greater sense of urgency and discouraging abusive activities like passing several days in the wait menu to reset a cell. Hunger and exhaustion accrue steadily based on game time. Sleeping reduces exhaustion and slows the increase of hunger. Eating food-type ingredients reduces hunger. The total of hunger and exhaustion is combined into a single "needs" value, and when your total needs exceed a certain amount you will start to suffer continual damage to Fatigue. Initially it will only be enough to slow regeneration, but the amount increases over time and can eventually overcome you. By default your Fatigue will never drop below 1; however, the damage starts overflowing into Magicka, and when that is drained to zero, it overflows to Health. (The default settings don't allow this to actually kill you.) In Oblivion, sleep requires a bed. To prevent severe annoyance during dungeon crawling excursions, Bare Necessities allows you to use a Lesser Power which checks your situation and allows you to sleep if conditions are right. You cannot sleep if you are in an interior owned by someone else, in combat, sneaking, swimming or jumping. Sleeping in public places is vagrancy, and you can be arrested if caught. After triggering this power you will be made immobile for 12 seconds (long enough for guards to approach). After waiting through the timer, you can sleep. Jumping or crouching cancels the timer. Sleeping without a bed is significantly less restful! This feature can be disabled, removing the power from your spell list. The defaults for Bare Necessities assume that you are using a mod which makes Fatigue regeneration rates generally lower and/or based on Endurance, such as Realistic Fatigue. Without such a mod, stiffer penalties might be appropriate.
