Shyriath's Little Trip (alternate) part 6

The Guardian groans as another one of the fire rings land, this time square on its back. Its breath leaves its lungs with a whoosh, and it quickly begins sucking in air, to keep the flow of oxygen going...

It begins to feel a bit woozy. Trying to stand up again, it wobbles on its legs. Its brain works furiously to figure out what is happening... some kind of magic? Mere exhaustion? Or perhaps... a gas.

Its lungs contain organs which can scrub out harmful organisms and substances, but even that is hard pressed to keep the Guardian awake. In any event, perhaps it is best to leave while it is still able to do so... it has had enough time to do a psionic reading on the intruders, and they do not seem interested in conquest, despite what the Guardian's masters would say.

With the little strength left to it, it stumbles off toward the nearest village, trying to avoid the now-burning sections of forest.

--

Shyriath watches the signs of the battle with wonder. Spots of rust are still left along the path that the Guardian had used; bits of the forest still burn from the fings rings, although the local climate is rainy enough that the fire will probably soon be put out.

All is quiet now (except for the slight crackling of flaming wood in the distance), and Shyriath goes off along the direction that Cira and the Guardian had gone, hoping to see what's happened.
