When they reached the clearing Shady noticed something strange. "Lave look, whats this big spot bright spot?" In the center of the clearing was a large circle, it was big enough to fit 20 people with plenty of elbow room. Lave started examining the markings on the perimeter of the circle. "Looks like runes, but I don't recognize any of them." remembering back to the course on runes taught by Shyriath he tried to find something that looked familiar.
"Well we can sit here all day looking at it, or we can hop in and see what happens!" Shady had to agree, caution was prudent but there was no sense in making sense of something you can't make sense of. The two stepped into the circle and waited. After a few seconds Lave started jumping it. "Come on, do something!" As if that were the words to activate it the 'runes' around the circle lit up. The world shifted around them and they found themselves in a similar circle in the center of a valley. "Hey it worked!" Shady pulled the Brown rock.
"Where is the Gold circle?" the light, white this time, went straight east into what looked like the remains of a city. "Alright lets go!" The two ran after the light and stopped at what was left of the city gates. "What is this place? Why would my circle be here?" Lave was looking at a sign that had fallen to the ground.
"This says it's the City of Sound. I remember hearing about this place. They used sound in everything. They even created a devistating weapon that according to legend 'Could turn mountains to valleys, and seas to deserts' but legends are always over-exagerated." Shady recognized the name. The City of Sound, he recalls a battle that took place here, he was there, with 3 of his friends. There was some evil lady that was trying to get that weapon. One of his friends had told him it was a useless search since the weapon itself was destroyed in a previous confrontation, but they had to get... something from her... what was it?
"Yoohoo- still there?" Shady snapped back to the present. "Remembering something?"
"Yeah, well sort of. It's still a little fuzzy. Come on, and stay sharp, I've got a bad feeling about this place."
"You sense it too?" Lave asked curiously. Shady slightly nodded more concerned with what could be inside there.
They entered the gate and walked the streets, the only sound in this once vibrant city was wind blowing through the ruins. Lave stopped dead in his tracks. "Lave wha..." Lave silenced him quickly. Now Shady could feel it, something malevolent, coming this way. "Lets get moving fast!" In the distance near a large bell was the ball of light from the brown happyrock. "There!" They two ran at full speed but were cut off by a shadowy figure wearing a pitch black cape.
"You!" The figure exclaimed. "You
dare show your face around here!" Lave drew his sword and it ignited.
The figure paid him no mind except to point to him. Lave's shadow
got up off the ground and pulled a flaming sword of it's own. Lave
obviously caught off guard by this stumbled back and his shadow attacked.
The two became locked in combat, neither gaining any noticable edge on
the other. "Now we can continue without further interruption."
The figure stepped back and pulled a black sword from behind him and charged
at Shady. Shady, quick to react used a tried and true method to blast
bad guys. Pulling the blue happyrock from his pocket he gathered
power for the Thunder spell. The Shadow seemed unafraid. Shady
thrust his hands up and the spell fizzled, dispelled by the world around
him. Shady couldn't believe it, this entire
world had a twisting effect with magic. Then he looked down, his
left arm had turned into a feathered wing! The Shadow slowed down
his charge to laugh. "Fool! Spell casting in this world is
warped. Don't believe me? Try another one!" Shady decided
not to take his chances and pulled the sword Lave had given him while holding
the red happyrock in his wing he set himself for the fight of his life.
