Saga and Christi quickly hurried aboard Decker's warship, being the last ones to board. Decker quickly came up with the news that they weren't allowed to calibrate the transdimensional drive until they left port, so as not to involve the headquarters in a possible accident. Saga took this opportunity to have a nap by himself, considering how nontypical these past few days have been.
Of course, he was interrupted in his sleep by a dream. However, it was not Xane this time.
Saga stood on a well-lit grassy plain, but no sun seemed to be visible in the sky. Then, a door opened, and a tall, pale elf with white hair, and dressed in a black three piece suit stepped out. Two things tipped Saga off as to his identity. First off his left eye was normal blue, but his right eye was yellow and reptilian, and second, left right hand was a silver dragon's claw much like his own. He spoke first. (for voice, think STNG's 'Q')
"Well, Saga, I see that you have survived another
of your escapades rather admirably. You do remember me, of course."
"How could I forget? Especially since how you
helped us out 25 years ago, MGS-1136."
"I'm so flattered that you remember. Since we
last met I've been doing some travel. The Vi'Ra'TirÝ were *very*
accomadating hosts. Why, they even allowed me the opportunity to see someone's
entire life." "Two questions. First, HOW did you get into their space,
and second, whose life did you choose?"
"It was simple. They allow any visitors who can
get to one of their worlds without using a starship. To answer your second
question, I chose yours."
"Why?"
"It's always why, why, why, with you, isn't it.
But I'll indulge you. I have always found you infinitely more interesting
than I do myself. It's a very interesting future you have. For you, it's
uphill from now on. You will live out a life filled with love and epic
heroism. In fact, this will be the first life of yours where you have children.
Before you ask how, the answer is closer than you think. Maybe someone
on your new home has a solution. Before I leave, there's something I'd
like to give you."
Saga then instantly knew a location on a Vi'Ra'Tir
world that he could easily teleport to.
"You really should visit there sometime. They
have *many* fascinating things there. Well, I must go. I'll be seeing you
in person soon enough."
The dream ended abruptly with Christi shaking him and telling him that they made it, and that he had a shuttle prepared to launch for them. The shuttle drop was fiarly uneventful, except for the always bumpy atmospheric reentry sequence , but this was minimized due to Decker's skill as a pilot. They landed safely, and the pair stepped out on to the plans of Alfandra once again.
