Jehann the Wanderer part 13.1

Jehann wiped away some of the tears that spilled down her cheeks and shook her head. She was never the one to get so emotional. It felt out of place. She looks to Cira and smiles. "Sorry about that."

"It's all right."  He gives her a gentle hug.  "Everyone will be glad to know you made it back safe and sound."  She can't see, and there is little in his voice to betray it,
but his eyes are wet with tears as well.

She returns his hug and nods. "I know, I hope I didn't make you all worry too much. How many have come back?"

"Actually not that many. More than half of them are still out there -- somewhere." He waves his paw at the sky. I think we'll count Cypher as being back. Shady, Shyriath, I ... I can't think of anyone else who's made it back yet. Even Hespa's still gone. I'm worried about them."

Jehann frowns at the answer. "I hope they're all alright."

Cira nods with a distant look in his eyes.  There are others besides Jehann and Rasha who have returned and are still in need of help -- he worries what will become of Shyriath.

The wind was picking up a bit as the grass started its calm dance. The blue dragoness knelt down near her resting twin. He was still breathing calmly against the trunk. The red streak on his white tunic was now dry and dull.

He scrunched up his face as sharp rays of sunlight suddenly hit him. Jehann smirked. 'Ah, Kodak moment. If I had a picture of this, he probably kill me.' The dragoness stretched out her wings to block the rays. She reached toward her brother and picked him up. Without warning, Rashad twists around quickly; causing her to almost drop him. She gets a better hold, careful not to hurt him with her talons. He does it again, but not so sharply as before.  Every so often, the young man would squeeze his eyes shut more, as if he was trying to fight something. A worried Jehann looks to Cira. "'What's wrong with him? Do you know?"

Cira looks steadily at Rashad.  Flute, now perched on Cira's head, looks on with concern as well.

"It seems that something besides the physical bothers him.  Perhaps something troubles his spirit."

Jehann watches the two for a bit and then looks back at her brother. "He kept on mentioning about me leaving him, everyone leaving, and the such. Maybe........"

The dragoness frowned. Despite the fact that he was her twin, Rashad still was much of a mystery. He didn't talk to her much about his past or how he felt. "Oh, I just wish I knew more about him."

She soon realizes that they must get him back to her lair quick.
