ETTING
OME
LFANDRA
After passing through a short, red tunnel
full of cascading yellow lightening bolts, Jehann flew out the opening
of the portal. It had let her out in mid-air above the Central Clearing.
She flew overhead a bit in a circle. Within minutes, Jehann swooped down
slowly. She landed near a tree and settled down a bit to catch her breath.
Rashad, still in his human form, groaned a bit; holding his side weakly
as his sister set him down against the tree's trunk. Underneath its shade,
he let out a
whizzing cough. He looked about. The sun was
high and the sky calm, giving off a tranquil feel to it. Not too far off,
were rows of shops and such.
Rashad closed his eyes and moaned.
"Don't worry, " Jehann said soothingly, "I'll go find some help."
"You're leaving me?" he asked.
Surprised at the question, she shook
her head. "No, no, I'm just going to find some help to take care of your
wound."
"You're leaving me", he continued
to repeat, as if in a daze.
Jehann gave her brother a
worried look. His brown eyes were half open and his forehead was sweaty.
"No, I'm going to stay right here. Okay?"
"Leave me, like everyone.
I'm just there." He said and continued to talk to some invisibe audience.
The dragoness gulped. She
was too scared to leave him there while she went to get aid. Looking about,
she resolved to one alternative.
"HEY!!! I NEED SOME HELP!!!
PLEASE, ANYONE!!!!!!"
A piping voice *meeps*, and Jehann discovers a tiny purple hatchie hovering behind her. The little one stares at her as Jehann suddenly knows things she didn't know before:
Flute will find someone who to help.
As this knowledge drops into Jehann's mind, the hatchie darts away again.
"What was that?", Rashad asks.
"A friend, now get some rest.
I'll be right here, I promise", she explained to her brother.
He nods, and lets his
sister adjst him better on the trunk. "You'll be here?"
The dragoness nods slowly
and gives him a comforting smile. The young man lays the side of his head
against the tree trunk. The sweat was glistening on his face and his breathing
was still thick and gaspy. Jehann watched Rashad intently as Flute goes
for help. She just found him a few weeks ago, she didn't want to loose
him now.
