"That's not true. I've been listening to you the
whole time." "Cutting me off every so often," she replied, "you didn't
listen to the meaning either."
He looked away.
"Just go away."
The dragoness snuggled into her pillows. She
closed her eyes and sighed, "Leave me alone."
"You don't understand. Jehann? Jehann, listen
to me." "I understand that you still haven't left, yet."
"Just hear me out."
"You're not even listening to me", she whispered.
"I did", he replied, "Jehann, look at me." The blue dragoness looked away.
She unfolded one of her wings and covered her face with it. Rashad sighed
and placed his hand on her wing tip. He pushed it back gently, not wanting
to hurt the newly-healed dragon underneath. He lowered his head toward
her face. The dragon looked into her eyes. 'Gold to gold. Aquamarine to
deep blue.', Jehann thought. The stare lasted for only a few minutes. It
seemed like forever. Jehann continued to think of Rashad's appearance compared
to hers. As she did, something clicked in her mind. Her eyes went wide.
Noticing the stare was broken, Rashad looked at her confusedly.
"What is it?", he asked.
"Tehrann to Jehann", she said softly, "Jehtehr
was the name of my birthplace."
She stopped talking. Rashad got up and moved
away from the bed. The blue dragoness gave him a surprised look.
"You can't be, but are you.....my brother?"
"No", a voice replied. The two dragons looked
to the source. The door was half open. Geni Long leaned against its frame.
She watched the two, letting her eyes settle upon Rashad. She concluded,
"He is your other half, your twin brother."
The air seemed to become stuffy. Time just stopped.
"My twin brother", Jehann whispered, "You're
my twin brother?" "No", he said, looking at Geni Long, "You have the wrong
dragon." He started toward the door. He came up to the elven woman and
gave her a stern look. She stood with her arms crossed, "I was not going
to let you", she spoke watching him back.
He sighed and left. Jehann shook her head, still
in a state of shock. She looked to Geni Long.
"You knew this all along", she said.
"It wasn't til you came", the elf answered, "he
realized it first. For some reason, I thought you realized it, too."
