LFANDRA
Rashad closed his eyes and sighed. Jehann watched
him silently. There was a long silence. He moved toward the window, pushing
past the curtains. The blue dragon placed his hand upon the window sill
and looked out.
"What does it feel like?"
"Hm, what did you say?", Jehann asked.
What does it feel like, to....to have a family?"
A look of bewilderment was on blue dragoness's
face. The question caught her completely off guard."What......what it feels
like? You should know. I mean you lived somewhere else before here and
you came to Nira' , right?"
"It's not the same", he said, as he continued
to look out. "Yes, it is. See..."
"What are your parents like?"
Jehann looked at him curiously. She couldn't
help but wonder why he was asking. She pushed the thought.
"They're wonderful. My father is very caring
and funny. My mother is wise and probably as sarcastic and sadistic as
Geni Long", she laughed,"There is so much, but it would take so long. Why
did you ask?" "Do you have any siblings?"
"Um, why yes. Love them to bits", she smiled.
He nodded to the answer and continued to look
out.
"Why are you asking, Rashad?"
"My name is dead, I can't even use it", he murmured
to himself. "What?", she said,"Dead? It's not, for it's your name." He
chuckled and shook his head. "I'm not Tehrann. He died along time ago when
the Wraith came. I'm Rashad, plain and simple. No family name, no blood,
no house of belonging. Just a bunch of people know me. Sometime, I'll die
and burn like Nikhail, and be forgotten". "That's not true!", Jehann argued,
"don't think like that. You mean something."
He turned to her, "You don't even know me."
"Like I care. Besides, it shouldn't matter",
she snorted, then looked him in the eye," What about everyone else, they
care about you, don't they?"
There was another silent moment. Jehann frowned
and laid back. Pain shot through her, as if she was thrown into a pit of
spikes. She closed her eyes and groaned. Soon, the blue dragoness felt
something move her. Opening her eyes, she saw Rashad above her. He covered
her with a forest green comforter. "You talked too much. You need to..."
"Don't tell me what I need.", she cut him off", You just don't want to
listen."
